LEBENDIGES MUSEUM – SÄGEMÜHLE GUT ROSS

The old water-powered sawmill dates back to the 1890s and belongs to Gut Roß, an agricultural model farm that Count Dr. jur. Max von Landsberg-Velen (1847-1902) had developed in the 1880s. The sawmill is housed in an elongated building to which a turbine house with a short intermediate wing has been added.

Lebendiges Museum

The "Living Museum" consists of five locations in the towns of Velen and Ramsdorf.

The other four locations are:

At the sawmill In Gut Ross (Heidener Straße 51, 46342 Velen) the local association Velen amazes visitors with the demonstration of the saw with pure water power.

At the former witches' house - now Beckmann's forge (Walburgisplatz 12a46342 Velen) - traditional blacksmithing is actively demonstrated by the Heimatverein Ramsdorf.

A collection of the Doskerkerls can also be visited at the Tenk-Dröning farm in the extension of the village community center (Krückling 20, 46342 Ramsdorf).

Another location is the museum at Burg Ramsdorf (Burgplatz 4, 46342 Velen), which displays, among other things, an impressive exhibit on regional history.

Cycling tour

A 21-kilometer bicycle route takes you past the five museum sites.
