DE WARKENSE MOLEN

The Warkense Molen is a reed-covered ground-sailer and built in 1878 by order of Jannes Nijendijk. In 1899, a petroleum engine was installed to allow grinding in windless conditions. In 1922 the drive was taken over by a crude oil engine. With the exception of the war years, grinding on the wind was hardly ever done. In 1965 the mill was restored and raised with a stone base.

The mill is equipped with the Fauel system on the inner rod. The outer rod is Old Dutch raised. The sails are fitted with a sail rail. The welded rods were made in 1994 by the firm Groot Wesseldijk from Laren. The outer rod has number 48 and the inner rod number 49. The mill is equipped with a pair of millstones with regulator, with which fodder is ground on a voluntary basis. There is also a cake crusher. In the mill there are still many transmissions present, which, however, no longer drive anything. The cast iron top axle is 4.50 m long.

The cap rotates on a neutral wheel, which is operated with a pulley wheel. Cruising can also be done with an electric motor.

The mill is caught, stopped, with a Flemish block catch, which is operated by a rocker. The lazy work is a towed lazy work.

In January 1994, the Nijendijk family transferred the mill to the De Warken Mill Foundation, which now manages the Warken Mill. The mill is usually open to the public on Saturdays.
