Geertruida Cornelia
Windmill Geertruida Cornelia
Mill Geertruida Cornelia is a round stone ground-sailer. The permit to build the mill was applied for in 1893, but construction was not completed until 1895 due to the death of the applicant. In addition to the mill, a mechanical grinding unit, powered by an eight-horsepower petroleum engine, also arrived in 1896. The engine was replaced by a diesel engine in 1921. The windmill came to a halt in 1935 due to a broken rod. Both rods were removed: one rod still sits (sawn into beams) at a neighbor's barn, the other has ended up in the Dutch Open Air Museum in Arnhem. The motor grinding mill took over the work of the windmill until 1972. In 1999, the entire mill complex with miller's house and grinding mill was restored. In 2000, the restored mill was officially opened.
In the Eesterhoek, Gorsselse Enkweg, stands the corn mill "Geertruida Cornelia". Bertus ten Have is miller of the Geertruida Cornelia and is assisted by his wife Trudi. The couple lives next to the mill which has a rich history. Bertus ten Have: "
On March 10, 1893, Manus Elibertus Dommerholt applies for a permit to erect a corn mill. This is granted to him eighteen days later. Two months later he dies". Derk Johan Peerbolte completes the stalled construction and leaves for Doetinchem in 1900.
The new owner then becomes Hendrikus Rudolf Veldhorts who also left for Doetinchem six years later. He was succeeded by Bernhard Kreeftenberg who in 1919 sold the mill, it had no name at the time, to the Coöperatieve Aankoop Vereniging (CAV). Bertus ten Have: "The mill had no name. People said for example I'm going to the mill of Veldhorst." In 1922 the 24-year-old Jan Luichies became the miller, he handed the baton to Teun Wesselink in 1946, he stayed until the C.A.V. decided to close the establishment. The mill without a name fell into disrepair. Bertus ten Have: "In May 1986 we bought the miller's house and the former "De Stoom", motor grinding mill. Later the mill. It took a lot of effort to clean up the decay and finally thoroughly restore it." The province of Gelderland and the then municipality of Gorssel each provided f 100,000. The remaining f 300,000 had to be raised by the Ten Have couple themselves. In 1995 the foundations Korenmolen Eesterhoek (owners' foundation) and the Friends of the Gorssel Windmills were established. Through donations from individuals and businesses, as much money as possible was raised. On July 1, 2000 the mill was festively inaugurated, former mayor M. Meerburg first unveiled the name, "Geertruide Cornelia" named after the first names of Trudi ten Have. Trudi ten Have - van Issenhoven: "On the recommendation of the antiquarian bookseller Goos Gortemöller from Deventer, we have organized a book market that will be held for the 24th time this year. Through this we provide sufficient income to maintain the mill". About 2000 visitors come to the book market. Bertus ten Have: "Books are delivered from far and wide, once with a trailer full from Alkmaar. But also from Amsterdam and Rotterdam and from very close by. It is nice that the Geertruida Cornelia is carried on hands."
